Oman bags 7 e-government awards in Egypt

SHARM EL SHEIKH (Egypt) The Sultanate has won seven awards at the second session of the e-government Award held in Egypt.

The Shura Council Website got the for the Arab parliaments category.

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources and Educational Portal websites won the Arab e-government Award for Ministries’ websites category. The ONA and Oman Tourism websites won the prize of the Officials and Governmental Institutions’ website category. Muscat Municipality won the prize for the Municipalities and Governorates websites category. The ITA won the prize of the Official and Governmental Website category (Information and Communication Technology).

Dr Rifaat Al Faouri, Director General of the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development of the Arab League, and Pierre Moukarzel, Chairman of the Internet Academy Awards in the Arab region, honoured the winners with the e-government Arab Award on Thursday in the presence of a number of ministers, officials, ambassadors of Arab countries in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.

Rifaat Al Faouri said the shift to digital is no longer an option but a reality. He said the organisation, in cooperation with the Internet Awards Academy in the Arab World, launched the Arab e-government Award in order to appreciate the efforts of Arab governments that have established websites to provide services, information and transparency to citizens and enhance the creation and development of these sites.
