By staff - Sat Dec 31, 9:24 am

We would like to wish all the readers of OneOman.com a happy and prosperous 2012.

It’s been another fantastic year and we would like to thank you for all your support over the past 12 months. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Rather than attempt some passing adages or encouragements of our own, we thought we would share some thoughts from the notable and wise that have survived the years. Happy New Year.

“Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.” – Benjamin Franklin.

“Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever.” – Mark Twain.

“Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account.” – Oscar Wilde.

“One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.” – John Burroughs.

“In the New Year, may your right hand always be stretched out in friendship, but never in want.” – An Irish toast.

“For eleven months and maybe about twenty days each year, we concentrate upon the shortcomings of others, but for a few days at the turn of New Year we look at our own. It is a good habit.” – Arthur H. Sulzberger.

“New Year’s Resolution: To tolerate fools more gladly, provided this does not encourage them to take up more of my time.” – James Agate.
